I wanted to know if anyone has had the issues that I've had so far.

I purchased a 2021 KIA K5 GT-Line back on September 12th 2020

In the first month of having this car these are the issues I have had, This is my top 5.

1. Within the first 4 days of owning the car I was driving in the freeway, exited the freeway, got to a red light and the car started shaking as if it was manual transmission car then it would not go past 1st gear and engine light flashed, I drove for 1/2 mile turned off the car and let it sit for 30 mins I re started the car and drove it and it was fine. I then took it to dealer service the next day they "linked" it to the fuel, they said the car should be ran on 91 premium fuel. I told them that it still had the same fuel that the dealer had filled it up with. Have not had that issue again yet.

2. Apple CARPLAY keeps disconnecting, I get this messages on and off " Phone not responding. Please Reconnect it and try again"

3. The Headliner makes a lot of rattling noise

4. The Sunroof makes noises on certain dumpy roads and when driving up a drive way in certain angles, I'm guessing its flexing.

5. When the A/C is running cold sometimes I hear what sounds like styrofoam rubbing agains plastic.

If anyone else has had these issues I would like to hear back.

Thank You.

1. Check main grounds on driver side fender under hood

2. Wireless carplay has issues; May be Apple, may be Kia. First car with wireless.

3 & 4. Sunroofs make noise. The roof is replaced by glass, rollers, and tracks. One reason I’m glad I didn’t get one.

5. Possibly the a/c control panel. Apply silicone spray to right side where noise comes from.

So far no issues didn't go for the sunroof on this one I can say though I don't know if its a KIA thing but with the Telluride with the sunshade pulled back you do get some wind noise at 75+ but I guess that's a given normal as far as wireless with android I'm not having any issues so far I do however get a little rattle behind the touch screen I'm not sure if that's the same sound your referring to

I'm also facing issues 2-4 that you mention and made a post about it here too.

Hard to say whether the wireless connection drop issue is because of KIA's firmware or iOS. I just updated my iOS, so we'll see if that resolves the issue, but no firmware updates on KIA's side as far as I know.

For the roof liner issue, I'm having it both on the driver and passenger side. At least for the driver's side, I confirmed where the spot was my pressing up against it while driving. This made the noise stop, so it makes me think that something is not seated/glued properly up there. Can't say for sure on the passenger side since I can't reach the area when driving, but it does sound like it's coming from the sunroof area.

As a point of reference though, my previous ride was an Optima EX with a sunroof. The sunroof will definitely make noise, especially over time, since there's so many parts up there, but the tricky part is figuring out whether it's normal or an issue. Mine had an issue, but it was a nightmare dealing with KIA service departments trying to get it fixed, so I dread having to possibly do that again. Also, the rattling/vibration issues are something that seems to exist across different KIA models from what I've researched online. And these are all with new cars.

Another member made a good suggestion of contacting KIA corporate first then going from there. I already sent them a message, so I suggest you do the same. Hopefully this can start to bring it to their attention that these are known/common issues and must be addressed somehow.

Hi! I purchased my 2021 K5 LXS the end of October. I had issues with the Apple carplay. The dealer did an update and it seems to be working. Fingers crossed! As for the other issues you are experiencing, thankfully I have not! One I am having that you aren't is a coolant smell after the car is parked.

I’m not understanding what you mean. I know a lot of people have had CarPlay issues, I haven’t had any to date, but, what do you mean you can’t use it wired? You absolutely can. I have an iPhone 11 Pro and works both ways. I also have an LXS if it makes a difference?

You can charge it with the wire but CarPlay continues to connect wirelessly. There’s no way to connect to CarPlay without a wireless connection in our car. Trim doesn’t matter.

The two USB's below the climate controls above the little storage area, left one is the port that lets you connect with a wire, the right one is just a charging port.

#5- Yeah, like two pieces of styrofoam being rubbed together. I have an appointment with the dealer on the 28th. From what I have read, it is an issue with needing insulation tape somewhere in that area. I will report back once I take it in.

I purchased my first Kia ever.. a 2022 Kia K5 3 weeks ago.
While driving on the highway there was a loud boom and my door popped open.
i am scared to drive my vehicle in fear for my safety.
Hazardous to my family and myself.
I took the car to the dealership the management did not believe me, they said it has not been heard of, it was impossible for the door to have popped open.
They said they have to have the mechanics take a look at it. I left it there no loaners.
I do not want it anymore, scared one of my grandchildren door could pop open.
Does anyone know if i can get out of this vehicle.
