2023 Gt Line FWD alignment

I am losing my faith on if this will ever be resolved. Since around roughly 500 miles I have been back-and-forth to the dealership regarding my alignment not being in spec, the steering wheel is tilted to the left, if I make it straight the car pulls to the right. The last time they adjusted it all of the specifications were not in par; example toe, caster, thrust. this time around they were able to get the alignment in specifications and reset the steering angle sensor, it handles much better now however the steering wheel is still tilted to the left so I have to bring it back next week. I am now at a little over 1000 miles and very discouraged, it is upsetting to have a new car and know it is not handling correctly. I don’t understand why something so simple is so complicated to get right.

The tech that did the alignment did a bad job by not centering the wheel. It should have been aligned at the factory, did you hit something? If you did something could have been damaged, but the tech should have found that. Try another dealer.

Ive hit nothing and all components have been inspected to verify. This was the 3rd time trying to get the alignment fully rectified. Second time I brought it to a different Kia dealership and it was worse than before LOL! I started to receive a pull to the right around 500 miles, that is what started this whole fiasco.
Tire pull, have a tire shop inspect it.

Possible, I had them swap the front wheels (right front to front left) around 700 miles. Didnt notice a difference. May be a bad belt or radial pull.
Did they give you a copy of the wheel alignment chart, showing you the before and after adjustment numbers?

Not this time around, I do have it from when the other shop did it; it was off on top. Bottom was theres before i told them the steering wheel was off after, they tried to recorrect it but made it worse and sent me on my mary way. Refused to throw it back on the rack. So ignore the after.

Wow... I would have thought that they would have made sure the steering wheel alignment was straight DURING wheel alignment. It would have saved both you time and money from having to do it twice.

The shop I took my car for a wheel alignment checked and corrected the alignment but also straightened the steering wheel at the same time. I had forgotten to mention to them about my off-centered steering wheel but they got it all done in one session, which took like around 30 minutes once they were able to get my car into the shop.

The people they got to do your car must really not know how to do a proper alignment job.

Steering wheel alignment (not road wheel alignment) is a simple procedure - once the road wheel alignment is to spec, adjusting the steering wheel alignment is a simple toe adjustment. You adjust the tie rods one way or the other an equal amount until the steering wheel is straight. Try taking it to a dedicated alignment shop. Look for a highly recommended one in your area.

I have never had a good alignment from a dealer, ever. I don't know how many times it drives worse after. I always take it to a tire or alignment shop.

Not sure where you live but the place I took my car to for wheel alignment and balancing is a place called Broward Auto Diagnostics & Repair. The husband and wife owners there are a friendly couple and will go over the issues with you.

Is that in Sunrise? You are a god sent for recommending someone you used. I didnt want to take my car just anywhere besides the dealership.

Only reason I brought it there was because of the warranty and the alignment felt off at 500 miles.

Yes, I recognized the background in your profile pic. 😂 I used to go to the trail head there to watch the sunset but it's been way too crowded with people ever since more people had found out about it. I figured you're probably around that area so I thought I'd recommend you to that place. lol

I get it. Always try free first. I just let every service guy know that I'm an ******* and pickiest person ever. And don't use your first day worker on my car 😂.. Its hard to find a good alignment place nowadays for some reason.

Based on 20 months, 7 repair visits, and nearly 2 months with the car being out of service - because my dealer being unwilling or unable to fix my car, I issued an ultimatum IN WRITING - VIA EMAIL - that basically said:

"I will no longer waste my time on trying to get your service department to correct what should be a very straight forward problem. Therefore, tomorrow I will be filing written complaints with:
1. Kia Corporate Customer Service
2. The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA)
3. The state (NC) Attorney General
4. The Better Business Bureau
I will also be contacting my attorney for advice on filing a Lemon Law demand for a replacement vehicle."

The next morning, I received a phone call from the dealer's general manager. Short version is that he apologized, said they did not want to go through the Lemon Law hassle, and advised that they were giving me a brand new 2023 Kia GT-Line as a replacement - 12 miles on the odometer. They valued the old car (as a trade-in) at the same value as the new one, so no sales tax was due. They also paid the title and tag fees. So I left the dealership with a brand new car at zero $$ difference.

Might not work with your dealer, but it might be worth a try. My advantage was that I had documented every email, phone call, repair ticket, mileage, time the car was in the shop on each failed attempt at repair it, etc. So they had no place to hide.

I LOVE this car, but I wrote off the first dealer and tried to establish a relationship with another one to do the side curtain airbag recall, do an early oil change, and re-program the transmission which is often slow to upshift. I'm getting the same stonewalling and runaround from dealer also. Kia really needs to up its customer service game.

Wow great for you! Wednesday is my next and last appointment with the dealership… if it is still off I will be taking that route.

I have a 2021 Kia K5 GT Line AWD and my alignment is ALWAYS ****ED UP!! Every time I go for an oil change (not through a Kia dealership because my local dealerships refuse to service my car) my alignment ALWAYS has to be done . Exactly like your car ; my car pulls to right my steering wheel does the same exact thing . This has been going on since I bought the car “New” back in March of 2021.

Have you gotten new tires?
