thank you for all that great info, is this accurate for the 2023 kia k5 gt line awd? sorry if thats obvious im only a few months in
As far as the speaker locations, and taking the head unit out, I can attest it is all pretty much the same. I just finished installing my system and the only difference I saw was how the head unit was secured under the dash, there are 2 more screws to remove vs previous versions. Also highly recommend crutchfield.com for picking and buying equipment, they throw in brackets and wiring harnesses for free where available.

I plan to install a center speaker in my wife's 6-speaker GT line. I'll probably go with this cheap coaxial from Amazon as you can buy them individually and only need one. Then the replacement grill cover piece too with the BOSE hole. This is a BOSS 3.5 inch coaxial for $15 each, nothing drastic needed honestly:

I ended up putting in a center channel in my wife's car finally today. A 2023 GT line with no BOSE so there was no wiring or harness to the center channel. I bought a Boss 4 inch speaker off Amazon that sells for $15 and they sell them in singles likely for this specific purpose, the link is in my post above. Used a butter knife to pop out the center grill and the tweeter and ran the wiring through gaps in the dash after lowering the glovebox down and used T-Taps to connect it, took maybe 2 feet of speaker wire. The speaker fits perfectly fine in the slot that already exists. I also bought the noted in this thread Bose center speaker cover with the perforations for the stock look and the sound to spill through.

Given it is a cheapo speaker and tapped into the tweeter only portion it gets whatever power the stock deck is pushing towards it and actually sounds really great. Gives a bunch of extra sounds bouncing off the windshield and some bass even. Here's a picture of it installed without the grill cover on

Hearing someone say they like the amount of bass from a BOSS 4inch speaker that costs as much as lunch, gets me everytime
It's great! Much better sound for the system with the way it reflects right off the windshield. Otherwise its just the highs off the tweeters on the sides. Even tho I tapped it into the tweeter on the right side it still produces some bass response to it instead of just some blistering sizzle to the highs.

Really it's too bad the stock system didn't at least even have the 7th speaker in the dash like that. But for $15 it was a well worth it addition to the crappy stock system.

Otherwise we have 2 12s installed rhat give enough bass for my wife's car, but this gave some response to the rest of the system that was lacking.

Why not get a JBL
Nothing wrong with that either. Tho only 1 speaker is needed and this BOSS one came in singles off Amazon. made a really good sound upgrade to the stock stereo honestly with something in the center, closer to the driver, and reflects off the windshield. I was just looking for a single speaker for the dash but a pair would be fine you just wouldn't need the second one

@slimguy
Any recommendations for reasonably priced door speakers? Likely from Crutchfield, everything else remain factory.
Hoping to increase the base a bit with richer sound, but don't have the ability to add an amp or sub. Thx john
Front -

Rear - same - you just won’t be able to install the tweeters & cross overs in the rear unless you used a hole saw on the door panel & installed the tweeter in the hole you made, w/ a brace.

Hoping someone can help! I upgraded today. Kicker 48TRTP102 10" sub. Kenwood 5 channel Amp and 4 JBL 6.5's to the doors. Amp powers all 4 doors and sub. My issue is my radio no longer plays AFTER I turn the car off. But, I have it selected to continue playing media after shutoff, (see photo). Any idea on what the install guy could have done to prevent the media from playing after shut off?

The amp is not set to accessory correctly, which means the radio is staying on but amp shuts off with ignition

Hey y’all. My daughter has a 22 gt-line. She wanted a little more bass so we bought a powered MTX sub for her. Got it all wired up, used t-taps on the rear speakers for the signal. However, as soon as we connect the speaker wires the sub starts pulsating like crazy, no music, just pulsating. If we unhook the speaker wires it stops. Checked the ground w/a multimeter and its GTG. Any idea what could be causing this?

Did you use a line converter?

No. Dude said I would not need a Line Converter. He said he wired it specifically to shut off when you push the start button off. And he doesn't think there is any other way to wire the Amp to turn off. I assumed there should be a way to keep it stock/factory, but I don't know!
You have to use a single pole double throw relay with 12v power and ground, with the switched pole hooked up to something that has "retained accessory power" (if KIA uses data to keep the radio on then you won't have a way to grab that signal.. and the only solution is to set the amp to speaker signal turn on instead of the remote wire that is hooked up)

I picked up a JL Audio VX1000/5i, saved $500 on a open box with just box damage & nothing missing inside, and I've been collecting parts, the front doors are JBL Club 605CSQ & rear doors are Infinity Kappa 63XF with a $122 savings on amazon, and a JBL Stadium 11'' passive basshub that fits in the spare tire unseen with full trunk space. hopping this is a good setup for a stock radio.

Trying to wire a 4 channel amp with amp in the trunk. How has everyone routed the output wire to their speakers? The only path along the floor -> door pass through has these wire panel clips so I can't figure out how to get speaker wire to go through the doors.
