My wife is thinking about replacing her Optima with a K5. I rented one the other day and found one very annoying feature. The arm rest protrusion, that is near the window buttons, digs into the side of my leg. Why is that thing there? What useful purpose does it serve. If the answer from KIA is Ughhhhhhh? Then please get rid of it.
Anyone else feel the same?

I'll be honest, the first week or two, it kind of annoyed me. I had a 16 Optima and I rested my leg there also. I eventually got used to it, doesn't bother me at all now. And I also use it to close the door. Lol

As others said, I think it's there to help close the door. When I bought my K5 (coming from a '17 Optima) the salesperson told me the doors on the K5 open wider, so that grab handle is there for easier reach. Don't know exactly how true that is, or if he was just trying to make it sound cooler. Haha.

It’s true it’s there to pull the door closed from full open (they do open very wide for ease of in and out .

It's there strictly to close the door cause of the wide opening they now have . It doesn't really bother or annoy me since my knee is right below the edge its more comfy than the previous 2019 sx.

I agree with this so much... Perhaps it makes a difference how tall you are and the way you rest your leg. I'm 6'2", and I'm forced to rest my left leg directly on that weird handle. Unfortunate design. I would kill to have a neat leather pad there that is parallel to my leg.

It's used for grabbing the door cause it swings wide. But yes sometimes it gets annoying

It is there so that when the door is fully opened (they open very wide) that you have a handle to grab and close the door.

I honestly don't use that little "horn" of a handle. It feels too flimsy for closing the door. I usually reach over and pull at the armrest hole instead. I do wish that they went with a more conventional handle, though...
