Back up Camera - problem

19530 Views 70 Replies 33 Participants Last post by  KunoMochi
I have a GT-Line and am having an occasional problem with my backup camera. It is occasionally not showing video it has a green screen and "No Camera Signal Received. Please try again later."

Has anyone else had this problem? Hoping to point dealer in the right direction.

Thx

I bought my 22 K5 gt line in July. A week in I had the same issue took it to the dealer. They had to order a part saying there was a short in the antenna. They “fixed it” and again this month I’m having the same issue again. Made another appointment to take it in again.

Yup, they're just going to keep replacing harnesses, connections, modules, etc. until you stop bringing it back. They're just guessing. They don't know why it's doing it. No one does.

I also have a 2022 K5 GT-line and started having this same camera issue today. I initially got a black screen when I put it in reverse. I put in park then back to reverse and starting getting the flashing green screen every time thereafter. Looking forward to someone getting a resolution and sharing!

I've managed to do this to mine now too. Just over a month old and approaching 4000 miles. It specifically freaked out when trying to connect and play audio from my phone while bringing in split screen, with the vehicle switching to reverse to show the camera. I'm guessing the camera switching everything just happened to happen at the same time it was starting its Bluetooth audio playback. So frustrating. I do have videos how should I post them?

Restarted the car to no help, drove to the store no help there either. When I nabbed the settings button while it flashed between the two, the whole unit continued to play the radio but was black screen. Couldn't do anything until I shifted out of reverse
As I suspected the car sitting while I was in the store, it reset and worked fine when I came back out. So I guess just let the radio do it's individual start ups, don't shift into reverse too quickly... 🤦🏼‍♂️

Edit, spelling
I just had this happen last night. My GT Line is 2 1/2 months old and now has 5500 miles. I just returned from a 3200 mile trip where I didn't have any problems. Last night was rainy and when I was leaving the store my entire screen went blue and then black. I shut the car and restarted. Everything looked normal, but when I went into reverse, I saw the message that the signal from the camera was lost. This morning, everything was normal. I'll experiment with my wife's phone later (mine is the predominant bluetooth connection) but we'll see if this problem comes back.
I have had my 22 GT line 4 Days and just now the back up camera started black then did the same green flickering screen. Anyone able to fix that problem yet?
It's a strange issue for sure... It seems like it is only affecting K5s with the larger screen as well. If ming had the larger screen, I would probably try to look at the wiring and connections and see if there is any kind of issues along it, like maybe dirt or water somehow seeped in and got in between a connection, or even perhaps a critter somehow chewed a part of the wiring (very unlikely, though). And if it's not a connection issue then it might be a software issue with communications between the camera and the head unit.
Just had this same problem on my 22. Just over 5k miles. First time having any electronic issues like this (my other complaints are about wind noise and the squeaky ac control area) Similar to what others said, jumped in and put it in reverse, maybe too quick I thought because the screen stayed black until I went back to park and tapped on the "confirm" safety prompt thing. Thought "huh, that was kinda weird, oh well" and then later during that drive when I tried to reverse it did the green flickering on and off thing. When it's flickering, I can see the camera feed sometimes but mostly the green connection problem screen. Seems like a software issue to me and not likely to be fixed with any connectors.

Hello I just noticed that my car started having the same issue you described. What was your end result? Should I make appointment with the Kia dealer ASAP. My 2022 was purchased brand new and I should not be having these problems. Thanks in advance for your recommendation

It does flicker but I can't seem to upload a video.
Just got a flat tire, front left, now my screen is doing this!

I BET EVERYONE HERE HAS HIT A POTHOLE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD!
I just got a flat tire from a pot hole so the large bang to the car green screened my reverse. It is not random, it is permanent everytime in reverse which means it has to be a connection.

Did you hit a pothole? Bump in the road ect? Anything before it happened?
Yeah, my first thought when I first read about the green backup camera screen was some type of loose connection somewhere. I've often seen this kinds of screen before on older displays like PC monitors and TVs before they had a system in place to go into power save mode when there is no connection.

In your case, it very well may be a loose or damaged connection from hitting that pothole. I can't say it's the same for others, though, as some mentioned it just started acting up this way or even intermittently one day. All I can say for sure is that it seems to only be affecting K5s with the larger 10.25" screen.

Copy, yea my k5 has been flawless, flat tire and it goes bonkers.
Mine was not a pot hole, and resolved itself after the car went to sleep and was restarted 15 minutes later. Have never had an issue since, almost 14k miles.
Lol wow. Ok hopefully a reset will do, hope. Thanks
