I contacted the kia k5 optima store they do list a blow off valve for a 1.6 but it is a sound plate that fits 2016-2020 Optima with the 1.6t however it will not fit the 2021 K5

The 1.6L Smartstream engine is a fresh-sheet design.

There’s little or no carry over parts.

For example, the MAP sensor and the boost sensor are new parts with better connectors.

This means no existing RaceChip or other boost tuners for previous Kia’s and Hyundai’s will work.

RaceChip is looking for a Smartstream 1.6L now to use as a test vehicle.

If you’re in the Florida pan handle area, email them - they want your engine.

Came across this today. Thoughts? It appears to be pretty much exactly what the op did. I do wonder though since the air gets diverted behind the mass air flow sensor does doing this cause your engine to run rich since air its assuming it's getting is being released to atmosphere instead?

I wish I could find an install video if this. I like lots of data before I buy something lol

So basically this releases the boosted air into the atmosphere instead of behind the air flow sensor without having to disconnect the hose. I’ve been driving with the hose disconnected behind the flow sensor with no issues at all. I capped the hole so it doesn’t suck in unfiltered air.

Does it void Kia warranty? Does it hinder fuel economy or run rich?

What did this do for you in the long run? Has it caused complications? Does this provide a better pressure release of the air?

No complications, the pressure release is the same from stock except it doesn’t go back into the intake it gets released.
