I have a 2021 GT-Line AWD fully loaded package (Wolf gray, red interior). Purchased at 18 miles May 2021 - Covina Valley Kia. Vehicle has 12k miles now and is used as a leisure vehicle, not a daily driver. Vehicle is often driven in the afternoon and evenings, although this issue has been witnessed by myself in the mornings, mid day and also the evenings. I started to notice the idle problem after trips in excess of about 20 minutes with the AC being used between Medium/High. When parking and engaging the Electronic Parking Brake, I then shut off the AC and under only these specific conditions does the idle begin to bounce between 100RPM-1000rpm while vibrating and seemingly trying to “catch its breath”. About 90% of the time the engine takes about 5-7 rounds of RPM fluctuations to settle as a normal vehicle does. 10% of the time, in which cases I have been unsuccessful in finding the additional causation, the vehicle RPM fluctuates about 2-3 rounds then stalls and is now in “ACCESORY MODE”, which can be accessed in any vehicle by pressing the start engine button without holding in the brake pedal. I have since taken the car back to covina valley kia (with a strong attitude) where they have ran diagnostics for 8 days as of today 6/17/22. The dealership has so far reported that they think it could be the AC compressor and are submitting a request for a new one. Today the dealership contacted me saying they were not approved for a new AC Compressor and are continuing with KIA-techline to see if the can “repair” the problem but when prompted to provide what the problem was to the AC Compressor itself that needs repair, they answered that they do not know what is problematic with the unit currently installed on the vehicle from the manufacturer. Now I am also concerned as to how the notion of the AC compressor needing to be replaced, intially came into light. My advice to everyone experiencing this issue is to take it immediately to the dealership whether it has actually stalled on you or just experienced RPM Fluctuations and hold your ground there with them and force them to document it and hold the car for diagnostics. Do not allow the car to continue to be ignored because it could possibly be running lean or creating underlying problems which they will try to disprove as your mistake not the manufacture. This is a serious issue plaguing lots of K5 owners but its not being taken to the right desks.
