Engine stall

Hello
I have a 22 gt line. My car has stalled/turned off three times at a stop light. The 1.6 engine is so quiet, I don't know it's off until I go to accelerate on the green and there is no power. One time it happened while in neutral, going through a car wash. The dash is still on and the key immobilizer icon is lit. It restarts every time with no problems after the stall. It happens about once a week while the engine is warm. The dealer said there are no codes in the computer and couldn't find any other issue. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a 2021 GT-Line AWD fully loaded package (Wolf gray, red interior). Purchased at 18 miles May 2021 - Covina Valley Kia. Vehicle has 12k miles now and is used as a leisure vehicle, not a daily driver. Vehicle is often driven in the afternoon and evenings, although this issue has been witnessed by myself in the mornings, mid day and also the evenings. I started to notice the idle problem after trips in excess of about 20 minutes with the AC being used between Medium/High. When parking and engaging the Electronic Parking Brake, I then shut off the AC and under only these specific conditions does the idle begin to bounce between 100RPM-1000rpm while vibrating and seemingly trying to “catch its breath”. About 90% of the time the engine takes about 5-7 rounds of RPM fluctuations to settle as a normal vehicle does. 10% of the time, in which cases I have been unsuccessful in finding the additional causation, the vehicle RPM fluctuates about 2-3 rounds then stalls and is now in “ACCESORY MODE”, which can be accessed in any vehicle by pressing the start engine button without holding in the brake pedal. I have since taken the car back to covina valley kia (with a strong attitude) where they have ran diagnostics for 8 days as of today 6/17/22. The dealership has so far reported that they think it could be the AC compressor and are submitting a request for a new one. Today the dealership contacted me saying they were not approved for a new AC Compressor and are continuing with KIA-techline to see if the can “repair” the problem but when prompted to provide what the problem was to the AC Compressor itself that needs repair, they answered that they do not know what is problematic with the unit currently installed on the vehicle from the manufacturer. Now I am also concerned as to how the notion of the AC compressor needing to be replaced, intially came into light. My advice to everyone experiencing this issue is to take it immediately to the dealership whether it has actually stalled on you or just experienced RPM Fluctuations and hold your ground there with them and force them to document it and hold the car for diagnostics. Do not allow the car to continue to be ignored because it could possibly be running lean or creating underlying problems which they will try to disprove as your mistake not the manufacture. This is a serious issue plaguing lots of K5 owners but its not being taken to the right desks.

I leased my new K5 December of 2022. Since that time the odometer has just over 2600 miles. It's a leisure vehicle and isn't used much so I'm shocked. This is my 3rd Kia the other two being Optima's. Recently toward the end of July 2022 and during the first week of August 2022 the car has been almost stalling when in park after turning off the AC as if it's trying to catch its breath. In the past 3 weeks I have taken the car in for an oil change and complained of a rough engine idle and now I'm experiencing this issue when in parked after turning off the AC. It's happened twice. Once parked in front of my house and once at a bank Teller drive up. I took it to a dealership I typically go to because they have been pretty good, but both times they said no error codes came up and the issue could not be replicated. So, yesterday when it happened again, I started taking a video as proof. I will be taking video each time it happens and then show any dealer the video so they can't say it's my imagination. I suggest you do the same. If there is a recall or class action lawsuit count me in.

Same exact thing has been happening to me. The last time it did, when I restarted it, it stayed in “limp mode” until I got home like it was either stuck in 1st gear or protecting itself from an issue that the dealership can’t replicate because of no codes or engine lights on. Stayed at dealership for 6 days with “it’s acting normal” so they did not touch it for 4 of those days. I believe I have a lemon so I’m thinking about trading it in after purchasing my 2022 Kia k5 gt-line in December (5 months ago).

I have 21 k5 gtline 1.6L. Mine has done exactly the same thing.. sounds like a dealership taking money for diagnostic and providing no answers. I'm not sure what causes it.. but I've heard if the mass air flow sensor gets clogged it can cause this.. I've noticed some oil residue around the air intake plastic housing unit... check yours

Agreed! Dealerships, once you purchase the car, the help attitude meter changes and it turns into pulling 3rd molars to get them to do anything afterwards, especially any manufacture assembly issues... my hood wasn't aligned right and I told them about it and how it was causing damaging to the fender when it opens and closes... I spent 3 months back and forth with kia dealership fairfield, ohio amd kia consumer relations in California (they hung up on me and before that there answer to my problem was sorry you feel that way... in regards me saying they should fix the hood assembly issue and repair it... never got any help from them... curious how much you had to lay in total visit of diagnostic testing

My car has been in and out of the dealership with no answers for same thing. However PENDING code for fuel injector and 4 cylinder misfire codes caused engine light to come on. But the dealership cleared them and turned light off before I could bring it somewhere else to fix after them having car for 18 days. So I have to drive it until car stalls/light comes back on which of course the issue is only random.
