Front badge

Hey guys so i put on new badges today but it seems like the front badge i got is smaller and doesn’t fit the gap correctly. Is this common or did i get crap badges?

Is it an overlay? I bought overlay (vinyl decals) and the chrome is supposed to show and outline the badge.
