How often did you contact your dealer

Ordered a K5 GT late January. I was told 4-6 months lead time and to check back in 2 months for an update. Well no update "but it should be soon". Now its been a little over 3 months and I still don't have a Vin assigned. I don't want to be annoying. Is it cool if I call in once a month to check?

Bonus if you can share your ordering timeline for a GT

I think it’s a moving target. I ordered my GT Feb. 23rd. My timeline was 6-8 months. It showed up March 23rd. I think the timeline is a best guess, but I don’t think they really know. Best of luck! Hope it shows up soon!

When shopping for a GT last year and asking what should be the expected LT for delivery, I was told by my salesman that it should be 2/3 months and he insisted that the agreed to
trade-in value for my 2011 Optima SX included my winter tires making me more enthusiastic about my purchase. Few minutes later & upon making my deposit for the GT, magically the LT went to 3/4 months. Obviously a sale strategy to get you hooked on within their backlog. Understanding that the North American market favors the US by approx. a 10-1 ratio Vs Canada, it aggravates me to see that CDN dealerships are currently advertising upwards of 10 GTs for sale while committed buyers are left out.

Based on my current experience, I would recommend that you do call your dealer at least on monthly basis to check on your order status.

Don't get me wrong, the K5 GT is IMO a very good car to own and worth purchasing but future buyers need to set their delivery expectations & be patient within the current auto industry context despite what dealers communicate to you in your purchasing process.

Well, after reading a bunch of posts and looking around the internet, I guess I got really lucky. Walked into a Kia Dealership about 2 hours after they put my new K5 GT on the lot. 2.5 hours I drove off in it. Was not even looking for that particular car, just needed to get out out my vette (BOO HOO HOO) bad knees and couldn't painlessly get out of it any more.

Cool. Same with me. Walked in the dealer, they told me they're getting only 1 k5GT and I left a deposit to secure it. 2 weeks later I drove home with it.
I was looking online tonight and looks like only 65 2022 K5 GTs availablr for sale right now. and that is not just on lots but ordered and in process to b dilivered. I think I got amazingly lucky to find one just walking on a lot.

UPDATE - As there's an excess of 15 GTs available nationwide per various websites and I'm still waiting for a VIN# for my order, I called my dealer to obtain a status on my GT order.
Same answer as in the past 7 months, KIA Canada has yet to provide them with a VIN, so no news/"stay patient its coming soon" seems to be their modo.

One of these advertised car has the same exact specs as my factory order and is within 20 miles from my dealer, I asked them to contact the other dealer and offered them a trade-in between my order (when it delivers) and their available K5. Following thru on my suggestion, my dealer advise me that the advertised car was posted on websites but was not available as it is pending a customer delivery. They went on saying that KIA Canada has a directive requiring all their dealers to post all factory order cars delivered to them on their respective inventory websites so, in the event the car delivery process with the intend customer doesn't go as planned, there's a waiting list of potential buyers for the car. Information which was confirmed by the advertising dealer.

For those of you in the same situation as I am, do not set your expectations of availability solely based on dealers' inventory status websites alone but contact them individually for true/accurate inventory.

I completely agree with your post!
I’ve order my K5 Gt- Line AWD on 4 April and they gave me a 90 days waiting period, which would be this 4 July. But I called the salesman and he said he did not lnowywhen the car would come and could take an additional month. I’ve told him I couldn’t wait this time and I would transfer my funds to another dealership that has something in stock. The salesman said he would talk to the manager and came with two k5 options that were almost the same spec I want and with a delivery date fixed. He said I will get the 2023 Kia K5 on 5 July! As you said, do not trust online inventories! Call them, discuss, be a little rigid if needed, and they will find a solution!
I’m glad all of us got a positive solution!
I have never been so anxious to see my new car.

Agreed as I'm curious to find out what are the "subtle" differences between 2021/2022 CDN spec'd GTs.

I would assume as well as I was told that it will be 3/4 weeks before it shows up. Would you know if the can "pre assign" a VIN prior to the car being completed as well as if the 17 digits VIN number provides you with the manufacturing date and/or month of the car assembly?
I got my Vin 2 weeks before driving off with it.

360 camera is the biggest change aside from logo as far as I know.

Thanks. Didn't know that the 2021s have 360 camera.
They don't....that came in 2023
Oh..OK. Do we know at this time what are the specs of the CDN 2023 models, especially the GTs?
