Anyone notice slight trembling (vibration) increase when car is put into park? For me, when placed in park from drive the rpm gauge jumps around a few times every minute and especially after turning off AC in park the needle fluctuates between 750 and 500 rpms a couple times and I can feel it. Also my mpg is not close to suggested. Typically 24 mpg city and range estimator drops faster than odometer is increasing driving reasonable speeds. It goes down quite fast. Car is brand new. Purchased at 20 miles. In one week of driving, hit the gas light with 350 miles added, which is about 100 less than listed range.
Lastly, engine temperature warms up quite fast within 30 seconds it is a quarter of the way to the middle and within a minute after it is fully warmed up (needle half way).

First new car, used a 2006 until now, and didn’t have this experience. Is it normal?

I have noticed the idol is different when shifted to park. Not all the time but I’ve experienced it a few times. I am averaging 31-34 mpg. Rarely use sport mode and I have a fairly heavy foot (hence the 2 speeding tickets).

Update... . Can owners look into this and try it themselves?
Steps:
When you arrive to your destination after driving (warmed up) with AC on, place the car in park and shortly after turn the AC OFF. Watch your RPM gauge. Can someone verify if this is normal? My RPMS jump around as the engine tries to stabilize itself. Only reason I’m asking this is because this may be the reason I’m only getting 370 miles range on full tank. Possible oxygen/control issue??

I also had that RPM issue once. I took it in to get looked at along with a lemon infotainment screen. No warnings or anything they could find in the system logs. They also couldn't recreate it and now i can't either. Seems to be dependent on the temp outside, the temp of the engine, and what mode the car is in. As for gas mileage, it will be below what you should be getting till you wear in the engine (500+ miles). I didn't start to get the rated MPG till after 1500 miles. Just did a short road trip this weekend that was just over 300 miles each way. Averaged 37mpg on the highway and could get just over 500 miles on a single tank according to the system.

I honestly haven't been able to hit the rated 24 mpg for city and I drove it for almost 2700 miles now. I rarely drive on the highway for extended periods and my drive is usually 15-20 mins on normal city streets. I drive pretty conservatively too, and try to get the blue Smart mode to stay on. I do note that it gets better mpg once you hit a steady 50-60 mph range. It may be because it's been humid and blistering hot outside too. lol Stuffs up the air pretty good.

Personally I get close to the 24 but then something happens either I hang out in the car for a bit (eating the gas mileage) or put a little extra oomph to the throttle and tank it. Currently I am at about 22.3-22.5 on the current tank

I’m getting an average of 31mpg doing about 70% highway 30% city driving. I also drive it fairly hard. The car has 5500 miles on it. I went up just under 1 mpg as the car broke in.
As for the RPM fluctuation I too have that issue. With the engine warm if u put it in park then shortly after that turn the AC off the rpm’s plummet drastically then recover. It’ll do that 2-4 times before it’ll level out. On two occasions the rpm dropped so low the car very nearly stalled. I do most driving on normal mode and occasionally sport however it doesn’t seem like the issue is mode dependent.

Hi everybody thanks for your responses. Took it to one dealer and they claimed no problem. Got frustrated, went to another dealer and they took the car in. A few days later I am told I need a new engine! Misfire in 3 cylinders not caused by coils or spark plugs. Engine has been swapped. So far so good. I will keep you posted!

Thanks for the update I will have to keep an eye on it. Did they figure out what the issue was, I have heard that some Kia engines have some problems when they get up there in age (90-100k) and that you should pay extreme attention to them as you close in on end of warranty but hadn't heard of something like this.

I'm having the same EXACT ISSUES!! Everything you pointed out fits what my vehicle is doing. I bought the car brand new in March, 5 days after I purchased it is when I noticed the issues and took it back to the dealership and I have been given the run around still til this day. I have a case with the manufacturer already and I'm still left without answers. My car has also shut off on me multiple times. I was stuck in the middle of an intersection due to the car just shutting off on me. Engine Oil Pressure light, charging system light, and immobilizer indicator light then came on and I couldn't get the car to start back up. Took me almost 2 minutes until it finally did start up and it continues to happen. Worse car experience ever.

Just wondering, which trim level do you have? I'm just wondering if it is something to do with the Idle Stop & Go feature on the base LX trim or something else. The higher trim models don't have that feature.

I have the Kia K5 GT Line AWD. I don't have the stop and go feature. The service ppl at the dealership try to say that was the reason for the issues I'm having. The idle isn't my only problem, there's lights that have been illuminating on my dashboard followed my the vehicle shutting off, I've had a leak already and the service manager said I blew a head gasket which doesn't make sense at all. Especially since it's a "brand new car". I know for a fact the fluid that leaked was transmission fluid. My issues all lead up to a bad transmission in the car. I am still under warranty and the service manager specifically told me "Because it's ME (AS A PERSON) HE ISNT GOING TO HELP ME. HE SAID HE ISNT GOING TO TAKE MY CAR , HE ISNT GOING TO SERVICE IT, NOR TOP OFF MY FLUIDS." HE STATED MY FLUIDS WERENT EVEN TOPPED OFF WHEN THEY SUPPOSEDLY DID A "360 MAINTENANCE". I HAD TO BUY MY OWN OIL YESTERDAY BECAUSE MY CAR HAD LITTLE TO NO OIL. STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THOUGH. SO I KNOW ITS SOMETHING FAR MORE SERIOUS AND THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER ARENT TAKING THIS SERIOUS. MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARENT SEEING HOW MUCH OF A SAFETY ISSUE THIS IS FOR ME.

Try contacting Kia directly and see if they can help you get the dealer to fix your car, especially since it's still all under their warranty.

Line is open on Mon-Fri, from 5AM-6PM PST (8AM-9PM EST). Closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

He literally said I'm not going to help you because I don't like you? How does he still have a job? Is he the bosses son or something?

Are there any other Kia dealers in the area you can take it to?

Thhat's exactly what he said. At this point I have no words. I am left just shocked that I'm getting treated this way. I've never heard of any service manager treating a customer this way. I have taken it to another dealer but they are making me pay out of pocket for any/all services needed. Even though it's still covered UNDER WARRANTY!!! I'm still waiting on a call back from my case manager who's handling my case that I have with the manufacturer. It's been 2 days and still nothing. Tried called numerous times and goes right to voicemail. I'm left in limbo once again.

I have taken it to another dealer but they are making me pay out of pocket for any/all services needed. Even though it's still covered UNDER WARRANTY!!! Tried called numerous times and goes right to voicemail. I'm left in limbo once again.
I know, they are usually so asskissy about their precious survey. Anything lower than a 10 is a fail yada yada yada.
