This is either going to be fun, or catastrophic. Time will tell and I am here to learn as I transform her to fit my vision.

I took delivery of Bloodshot on March 12th with 12 miles on the clock. Within the first 100 miles, my SRS light came on. Contacted the dealer for them to look it over and they found the driver side buckle to be faulty, and it was replaced under warranty. Right now, she has over 1k miles and no other issues have come up. Made it through the break in period and its time to do an oil change.

Enjoy my success/failure as I become a friend/foe with this beast. That being said, lets see how far I get on this build before I pawn it onto someone else 😏

Installed the trunk pull handle. It is a nice feature to have. Very convenient that this should have been standard from factory. And no option to add this for the K5. I bought mine from Aliexpress for the Forte/Optima and it didnt come with hardware. Local hardware store had what I needed

You can see the holes are there after removing the trunk liner. Had to use long needle nose to get the bolts in the hole. Used a pick tool to puncture a hole in the liner and a drill bit to make the hole bigger to fit the screw. The little tabs are not needed and I cut them off. Finished screwing everything together and tested with success

Very nice. That's my next project. I keep reaching up for the trunk lid closing handle...because every Kia I've owned since 2000 had one...
@GlacialWhiteGT
My 2012 Mazda 3 has it. After owning her for 5 yrs, its part of my routine to close the trunk. When the K5 didnt have it, I was on a mission to get'r done lol

lol Nice! I'm wondering if it is possible to heat the lining and make a recess to make it more flush like the older Optimas. I've been looking at the liners for the previous Optimas and they all have indents in the liner for the trunk handle, which is weird that the K5 doesn't have one when the space and holes are there for it on the trunk lid itself.

I was wondering the same thing. Could have been overlooked or scratched out during production.

The heating method could be done if you can focus the material pulling from in to out towards the edge. And being close to the edge, it would take a lot of finesse and massaging to make it look OEM.

I saw a pic in here where someone bought an older optima liner. Cut around the indent and did the same for the K5. Glue it together and it looked ok. But you could see the edges where it wasnt covered. You could wrap it with fabric to make it look OEM.

If I didnt have bad luck, I would have no luck at all

This nail set up camp and caused me to buy a new tire. Less than 10k miles and all that tread has gone to waste

Just wanted to share that I followed your instructions (same hardware and everything) and installed my own trunk handle. Worked great and sits totally flush, looks factory. Thanks!

I plan on doing the same mod. Ordered THIS handle from AliExpress, so we'll see how long it takes to come in!

@K5iFound - Any idea on the length of the 1/4"x20 coupling nut? I don't see a length on the pic of the package you posted.

Not sure. I purchased all the hardware locally at Home Depot and Lowes. It was the smallest they had.

Wheels are powdercoated illusion cherry with clear vision. Washed, waxed, and tires mounted. Will post more pics once I get them on the car

Is this OCD overload... 🤣
Wheel weights was an eye sore and no other way to make this less visible without painting them. Had some paint laying around and gave it a nice finish
