Mods I've Made to My GT-Line

I just wanted to create a thread for tracking my car and the mods (such as they are!) I'm doing to it. It won't be a lot or anything major so don't expect to be blown away by something unusual or unexpected, but just in case it helps someone in the future...
Wheel Car Vehicle Tire Hood

I'm really pretty happy with the looks of my K5. I love the color, the wheels, the design and styling, and even the non-Bose sound system doesn't sound bad to my ears (I'll preface that comment w/ the fact my hearing sucks and I have tinnitus). I won't be doing mods to the drivetrain, as I don't want to void my lifetime powertrain warranty. That being said, it's not perfect, so there are a few things that I've already done that I'll share. Many of these are things I've learned or seen on other peoples cars, some from my own experience, most right here on this forum, so please don't be offended if I don't share where I originally saw the mod.
  • First thing I did was to install a CarLink Apple CarPlay/Android Auto wireless adapter. I forget where I actually got mine, because I paid $55 for it when I got it. I was using it in my Camry before it got totaled, so I just transferred it to the K5. I don't want to be bothered to plug my phone in every time that I want to stream music or use Waze (which is all the time), so this was a must.
  • Next, my phone (iPhone 13 Pro) didn't work all that great in the Qi charger. I did find that by cutting a straw to 3 1/8" long and dropping it into the cavity for the phone that it lifted it up to a better location, and now it charges with no issue.
  • My car came w/ the Premium package and carpeted floor mats, but not weather proof mats, so next up was a set of WeatherTech HP FloorLiners. I like the HP line better than the others, as they are more rubbery and fit better. I just got them for the front seats, as I'll rarely carry anyone other than my rescue dog Stuart in the back. Which brings me to the next mod...
  • I installed THIS hammock in the rear seat for my buddy Stu. It works OK, not great, but it does the job. I also throw a blanket in the hammock for him, and wash it once a week to try and keep the dog hair at bay! Good luck with that... :ROFLMAO:
  • I installed THIS center console organizer. Not much to say about it, other than it works fine and does it's job!
  • Next were THESE rear LED turn signal bulbs. Much brighter than the incandescent bulbs that were replaced, and no error messages. Amazon says they don't fit, but I've found that Amazon's Confirmed Fit is 60% accurate at best. They work great.
  • Next was THIS LED trunk light. This is a MUST! SO much brighter than the weak little factory incandescent bulb it's crazy. And so simple to change.
  • I replaced the original reverse light bulbs with THESE. Much brighter than stock, which was a big deal for me, as we have almost no light around where we live. Work great.
That's it for the moment. I'll add more to this thread as I add things/change things.

I like what I'm reading, but none of the links worked for me.
Odd. They work for me.
The links work for me as well. That hammock looks really nice for pets! Definitely would be something I'd spend if I had a dog or even a cat. lol Those are the same LEDs I use for my car (sans the reverse lights). They've been working great for me so far as well.

I saw those reverse lights before, and similar ones from other companies, but I opted for one that had a more conventional bulb style to them. The main reason is that I want to have a nice clean look to the lamp housing when you see them. lol The copper accents would mess with my OCD since I'd see them through the clear housing. 😂 The OXILAMs has a slight orange to them but it's not as noticeable.

I originally had these installed and while they looked perfect and blended in with the rest of the silver reflector, but they were actually dimmer than the stock halogen lights due to the silver tint around the bulb. I keep them around as atemporary replacement in case one of the turn signal lights burn out or hyperflashes and I have to order new ones.

Old Blue - you can feature, picture, and show mods on your car in the "Showcase" forum.

It has sections where you can list your mods/changes by interior, drivetrain, exterior, wheels, lights, etc.

Ahh! Thanks! Every other forum I've been on over the years had a "Garage" area or a "Build" area where you could list your individual car/truck/Jeep. Since I couldn't find one like that on this forum I figured I'd just create a thread for it, but I'll give the "Showcase" a try!

Have you thought about black door handle covers

Yeah, maybe. Be a good match to the mirrors.
I just bought THIS auto-dimming mirror. Now to try and find a bit more info on the install. I figure I'll change out the map light bulbs to LED when I install the mirror, kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone.

Also took it in to the dealer for an oil change. 1218 miles, and I just wanted the original oil and filter changed out, just in case there was any left over debris from the initial machining/assembly.
Yeah, maybe. Be a good match to the mirrors.
That's my favorite mod I've done is my gloss black handle covers. The gt line should have came this way from factory. And for 18 bucks you can't go wrong

Can you take a close up picture of these installed - from the top - I want to see if they enclose the back side of the handle?

TIA!

I installed THESE pedal covers over the weekend (thanks to @LONEWOLF for the inspiration!), and gave it a good wash. Depending on the weather this week (should be close to 80), I plan on doing a ceramic coating on it.

Yeah, I had to wait about two weeks. But I’m happy with them.

I got THIS auto-dimming mirror installed this afternoon. Install took less than 90 minutes total. I was unsure how to wire it at first, as there’s no instructions or wiring diagram, but a little searching online and I was able to determine that the black wire w/ the white tracer goes to a switched power source, the black wire w/ the female connector goes to an always hot connection, and the black wire w/ the loop connector is ground. Mounted the mirror, tucked the wires above the headliner, down the driver’s side A pillar to the fuse box, and used a couple of fuse taps for power. Also found a 10mm threaded hole that was perfect for the ground above the upper left trim panel. Very happy with it, and at $120, it was considerably cheaper buying online from a Kia dealer versus when I bought the car.

I also installed new LEDs in the front map lights. I had a few 194 bulbs lying around, and they worked well. Still need to do the rear interior light, and then other than the license plate light, I think I've replaced all the LEDs at that point.

Curious - did you drive in a circle clockwise and counterclockwise to set the compass?

Yes, 3 times in one direction and then had to set the zone. Easy enough.
