Hi all:
Taking delivery of my new K5 GT Line AWD next week. Wolf Grey with black interior with the pano roof. I have two questions to anyone in the know. 1) Can you bump the power of the 1.6T to match the Stelos and/or Forte GT to 195-200 hp without voiding your warranty?. 2) Should you do an intake valve cleaning every 25k or so to prevent or slow down carbon build up? .I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

So the forte is only more hp because it is a lighter vehicle. And trying to get the extra 20hp isn't worth it. You will barely feel it. K&N intake will give you extra 9 HP (or so it says). That will put you at 190. I'm doing the intake next month. But mainly so car breathes better. And i honestly would not mess with intake cleaning. Just keep on scheduled maintenance and try not to void the 100k warranty is my advice

Thanks for the info I plan on using 89 octane fuel and BG oil enhancer with the oil changes. I will look into a K/N filter.

The K5 1.6T engine has an oil separator in the valve cover - so they have reduced the carbon build-up problem on this engine. (Same for 2.5T engine)

Use your Owner's Manual to do scheduled maintenance on your car.
