Should I use higher octane fuel?

309 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Frankanoodle
I have the 23 ex premium and in the Manual it shows use 87 but I can use higher octane. Should I do it? What would the benefits be to the car? Does it feel different. Or is it something I shouldn't worry about?

Just use the octane and percentage of ethanol specified in your owners manual. Tier 1 quality gas is going to keep problems from cropping up as mileage gets up there.

The manual says: "87 octane or higher".

87 Octane is sufficient.

If you drive with the throttle in only 2-positions - WOT and idle - then you should use 91/93 octane for maximum horsepower...:)

I do idle a ton roughly 10-20 hours weekly

10-20 hours weekly? Some clarification please.

I assume you don't floor it when you go off idle...

Sorry I think I misread that. Sometimes ill floor it from idle but I hate doing it as i always feel im somehow gonna blow up the engine but to clarify the idleing I idle 10-20 hours because I travel alot for work so im normally sitting in my car long periods of time or sleep in it if i have too. Sorry lol
