Side mirror damaged and the lamp won't work anymore.

Hello Guys,

I bought a 2021 K5 GT-Line about a month ago and my wife just damaged the right side mirror lamp.

It happened while she was pulling out of the garage and it hit the entrance which knocked off the cover and turned out the lamp was slightly cracked.

I put the cover back in and noticed that the lamp won't work anymore when using the turn signal.

Do you guys have any idea how to fix it? I have a feeling I'll have to order the plastic lamp part which looks to be sold on Ebay.

Not sure if the part is compatible.

So I did some research and found out apparently a few plastic pins were broken while the scalp/cover was taken off and found out the cover's not pre-painted when you order a new replacement in the US unlike Korean ones sold in Korea, even part numbers are slightly different (L2000 vs L3000) and I decided to order them straightly from Korea along with the side repeater.

It's much cheaper than getting them from here and not worrying about the new cover not painted.

The repeater lamp was the same for both US and Korean models.

https://www.sparekorea.com/ <- here's the website I went, BTW the parts are about 40% cheaper if you directly get them from Hyundai/Kia Mobis there which's almost impossible for folks like us.

So, the parts arrived today (it only took 3 days from Korea to AZ).

However I have hard time removing this side mirror glass, unlike video tutorials for other cars, this glass won't come off easily.

Guys have any idea?

Most people in Korea they just replace the whole assembly since Korean models are equipped with rear view cameras and they are also powered.

OK, I bought some door trim tool and I was able to pry that stubborn mirror out.

TL DR;

Don't pay stupid amount of money for the total replacement or parts from the US.

Just get them directly from Korea. the mirror cover's $5-10 per piece and already pre-painted while the one from the US is $40~ (not painted).

And that lamp also costs only $12-20 from there.

Here's the difference between $40+ cover vs $5 cover from Korea (Aurora Black Pearl).. well I I had to pay $10+shipping so it's not exactly $5.. covers in the US are not pre-painted and you have to take it to somewhere to get them painted or paint yourself which wouldn't be free..

How did you get the mirror off

Apparently, you just need something to slip behind the mirror to pry it off. Highly suggest getting a plastic prying tool to prevent damaging the housing. Also, don't stick the prying tool too far in and be careful of the wire connectors for the heated mirrors.

I just want to say thank you to OP for posting this up. This helped me tremendously in getting my 22 GTL mirror covers swapped out.
