So hi there I’m new to the Kia world and I recently just leased a 2021 K5 GT line. An as I’m loving the drive of this car there comes a weird smell coming from the engine. I’m not sure what it is but ppl are saying it’s coolant they smell. Now do you think it’s worth it to bring it to Kia and see what’s going on? Because I’ve seen ppl bring it and come
Back with the same issue. Tia.

I purchased my K5 In October. I have experienced the same issue. I have complained about this to the dealer. Apparently KIA change the designed of the coolant reservoir in mid production. if your car was built earlier it has a different one than one built later in 2020. Mine was built in June 2020. It has the old style. I'm not going to let this go! I am going to press for a new coolant reservoir. The fact that Kia changed in mid production, kind of makes one think there was a design flaw and Kia didn't want to spend the money to correct the ones already built!

Did they say what the design flaw was? I just went and looked around the reservoir to see if there was any spray marks or leak marks but didn’t see anything noticeable.

KIA did not admit to a design flaw. they just had a design change. My question is why the change? was there a flaw? The cap on the reservoir on my K5 has one O ring in the cap. The new design cap has two O rings in the cap. I never found any leaks on mine either. Just an annoying coolant smell! And the caps are not interchangeable! when the changed the design they changed the reservoir so you cant just change caps!

Well that sucks. You would think that a cap redesgn would be a lot simpler than re-designing the whole reservoir.
