So using the Smart Cruise Control is fairly simple to do, however, I want to use just standard cruise control. Do not like the slowing down and speeding up when cars are near using the SCC.

I have read the manual too many times to count and tried about every conmbbination I cold to get to operate "normally" to no avail. Says you can do.

Can some body walk me through this? Will go to dealer if need be , but thought I would try on here first.

Did you find the answer? I was just watching a KIA features and functions video about SCC on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv8p9hl2g1I

Another video which is for non-US market goes into greater detail:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZa2k2gLZ1E

It says if you press and hold the vehicle distance button for a minimum of 2 seconds, it will switch from SCC to standard cruise control. I have not yet tried this so not sure if it works for the K5's SCC (both videos feature a different model). SCC must not be engaged when changing the mode.

Mike, I thought it would be easy but no luck for me. I'm beginning to think the standard CC option is not offered on the K5. The videos all feature different Kia models with more elaborate vehicle setting options.

Man I hope not, when I have the SCC system on, everytime somebody passes me and pulls back in quicky, my brakes come on, pisses me off. I even have it set to "Slow" reaction" I drive about 80 miles round trip to work everyday, almost all highway miles, (reason I didn't wait for the full on GT, gas mileage is considerable lower)
I probably would not have bought this If I had know that. It getting to the point that you ahem to do a 2 hour test drive to verify everything works or has the options you "thiink" it has.

Will be going to dealer this weekend to verify. Will keep you posted.

Wow, that is a pain! And I hear you about doing a test drive to see what features are included... I would need to do that too. I find it very confusing.

I was looking at the K5 brochure and in the back are the trim options and available packages. I take it you have the GT line premium package which comes with the AWD. It states you have the smart cruise control with stop-and-go. According to those videos that one should allow you to switch to standard CC. The EX premium package comes with navigation based smart cruise control – curve. I don't think that one has the ability to switch to standard CC.
Btw, do you mind me asking what dealership? I got mine from Wyler in Springfield. Offered me the best deal. Of course, I'll see how good it was. My car actually came from their sister dealership at Eastgate. Delivered to me with 288 miles. Who knows how the car was treated before I bought it. Dealership didn't do any walk around with me; didn't go over any features. Maybe that's because of covid restrictions. I should have asked for it. Yesterday, while using a microfiber cloth to wipe down fingerprints I noticed there's a scratch on the clear plastic instrument cluster cover. For the price we paid for these cars I would think it should be delivered flawless!

Yea, I bought the GT Line Premium Package. I had been kinda looking at these online and watched a bunch of you tube videos on them. I had a 2018 Honda Sport. that I loved, but was missing some options I really wanted after not having them.

The AWD GT was the only way to get heated seats, steering wheel, etc. unless up go to the top line EX, which I like the exterior styling of the GT.

I wasn't really ready to buy, but pulled into Matt Castrucis Kia by Dayton Mall (Closest one to where I live) and was killing time just looking around and next thing I know I am leavng in it. Gave me a pretty good deal and got what I wanted out of the Honda. No pressure at all. Dealt with the Sales Manager as all other salesmen were busy. That made it easy as he could decide on the spot on the pricing during negotiation.

I really wanted the 12 speaker Bose System , but cant get it in the GT, crazy, can get it in the top line EX.

So, delivered SAturday are 4 new Kicker 6.5" speakers for the doors. Same ones I installed in my Honda. Stock Head unit has plenty of power. Made all the difference in the world on the Honda. I got the Windows Tinted on Saturday. Changed look of car. Mines White with all the black trim.
I did read I believe I also have the Navigation CC. Haven't tried it yet or I may not have it as things are going?

Sounds like a good project for a heated garage. Good luck with the install.
Have you gotten anymore info on switching to standard cc? I'm still reading about features and getting confused. In the Features and Functions Guide there are discussions about features for type A instrument cluster but not type B. Then for other topics they cover type B, but not type A. I guess I have type A. Some features just aren't clarified. It's crazy. I also have still not been able to set up UVO because of "an IT service outage", per the app.

Apparently the instructions in the owners manual have been copied from an older model because they don't work. I've been unable to switch to standard cruise control from Smart Cruise Control. I understand your frustration. I've got 10k miles on my EX now, mostly highway miles on trips and there are times I hate SCC. Good luck getting an answer from a dealership. I asked about it at Kia of Dayton and they were clueless and didn't offer to research it either. I wish there was a way to contact someone at Kia.

I was just re-reading this thread and so far, no luck on the Smart Cruise Control issue. I see your disdain for Jeff Wyler in Springfield. That's where I bought mine. They did a horrible job of vehicle prep--most of the plastic push-pin fasteners that are supposed to hold all the plastic panels underneath the car were missing. I noticed it at a car wash and had to take it back. When my head unit failed (UVO, voice recognition, etc.), they had the car for a month. When I got it back, it had several dents on both sides and numerous scratches in the passenger door so deep that they said they'd have to repaint it. No way I was going to let those morons repaint the door on a brand new car. So far I've been living with it and touched it up as best I could. Kia of Dayton is equally inept but I suppose I've vented enough.

I was shocked when the maroon gt line I test drove at Wyler was being sold brand new with the passenger carpet all pulled up, creased and misshapen. They said it was a normal factory defect during the manufacturing process... No way I'd buy a new car that had some kind of issue. Luckily they had the Ebony GT Line with 10 mi on it, and I haven't had any issues other than they delivered the brand new car covered in wax streaks

I had taken my K5 in to the dealership I bought it from, and had them try to figure it out. They found out that the 2021 model has the option to switch to standard from smart cruise control, the reason why the later year models don't is due to the infotainment center being newer. Apparently Kia is working on a firmware update to add the ability to use standard cruise control, but who knows how long the wait for the firmware update to come out.
