Upgrading my 2023 K5 GT Bose System

TLDR: planning to upgrade Bose

Hey all, finally found the black 2023 K5 GT after weeks of looking and purchased it yesterday. This is my first new car purchase and I don’t have an ounce of regret. That said, I am a car stereo person. I’ve always had big custom setups with multiple amps, subs, upgraded decks and new cones - that said, I really love this car and don’t want to change almost anything aesthetically, structurally or UI/dash wise. After doing a little research, I have some ideas. I’d love to hear any feedback you have if you have done any of these changes to your K5 Bose setup.

Step 1: Swap the Bose 8” sub with a new one (thinking w7) and add and amp using inline connections (recommendations?) - also, if someone has a case against using the existing 8” hole, lmk, I just don’t want to do a big box again. Max would be 1 10” in a custom bix
Step 2: Swap dash and door cones with something nicer that will do fine with the stock power setup from the Bose amp (possible?) and add inline EQ if necessary
Step 3 (Maybe): Swap Bose amp for something better (I’ve heard Bose is very complicated with proprietary components, so if this turns out to be a ton of effort, I’ll make the best I can with their amp).

I know I wasn’t super specific, but it’s been years since I built a system, so I’m not sure if my best guess is good anymore. Any feedback at all is appreciate. Thanks!

I just did the custom sub from these guys:
I added sound deadening to the trunk lid.
I am powering it with an Infinity Kappa 6 (1 x 600W @ 2Ohm)

I am debating on going any further (meaning additional amp to power speakers in doors which I would also replace). I wish the stock system had more power but it may be enough for me....for now at least.

Thanks for the info @Cobra617! I was looking at the same sub box actually, seems like other than trying to do a drop in replacement in the rear panel, this is the only close to “built-in” looking option.

I’m right there too, with a new sub, some decent EQ, and pulling most of the low frequencies from the doors, I feel like it might be good enough, but we’ll see if I’m ok with that or end up chasing ideal. Lmk if you end up doing the amp/door swap!
If you get this box there are a couple of issues to be aware of..
1) The glue they use smells. I'd let it sit out for a week or so. I was impatient and installed it right away and wow, my car really smelled bad.
2) On my car the trunk arms hit the top of the box. I am actually not too upset about this. Before the sound deadening and the box, I hated how the trunk opened. I always worried that it would uppercut somebody.

I am actually a bit disappointed with how loud the system can get (or actually...not get). I probably won't add anything as embarking on the other speakers will be a big and pricey undertaking.
