Do you guys notice any difference in the sound quality if its via usb or wireless carplay? Or are the stock speakers just not that good. I find myself always on the highest volume level.
I have. The sound quality with Bluetooth and Apple car play sounds low with less bass compared to listening to a radio station. I’ll be installing some new speakers tomorrow just because the stock speakers are cheap from the factory.

I also just realized that the iphone projection volune was all the way down. I turned it up to 40 and now it sounds way better . It was the internal projector volume . But yes new spealers definitely would help. Which one did you buy ?

Oh okay right on! I’ll have to look into that also. But I ended up choosing the Focal RCX-165 from Crutchfield.

Most definitely 💯 ! I just returned my Forte Gt lease that has Harmon Kardon from factory which was awesome. Not thinking of checking the stereo on the K5 Ex Premium because it’s “Bose” 12 speakers system was a regretful decision is wish I made. Long story short, the only way to enjoy quality sound from the system is on a radio HD channel. Every other source of connectivity is awful in my opinion maybe because of the high expectation and compared to what I had on my Forte Gt Harmon Kardon. With all the available sound adjustments and settings nothing makes a difference which now convinced me to add a sub. Maybe the speakers are cheap, radio and amp are not tuned properly for other source of input or wireless audio, don’t know at this point but I do know that I’m very disappointed. Any suggestions???

Answer: it depends.

I've got the standard 8.5" system. My primary music playback is via a USB thumbdrive filled with mp3 files. The audio level of the mp3 files themselves contribute to the max volume level. As you discovered, the projection volume does as well.

With windows and sunroof open, the max volume doesn't get high enough to compensate. With everything closed, and sunroof shade closed, the volume is quite adequate for me. The 10" system includes ambient/mood channels. I reproduced this by having a folder on the USB drive with similar mood files. The cabin is quiet enough that the subtle nature sounds can be heard without having to raise to max volume.

That surprised me since I have a bad case of tinnitus and sometimes those subtle sounds can be difficult to hear.
