I thought it would be fun to see which trim level of the Kia K5 everyone owns and which are the most popular here. Feel free to share why you chose your trim, why you like it, etc.

GT ... Just for the extra HP and bigger brakes. No other reason

I specifically looked for the GT-Line AWD because I heard about the wheel hopping in the FWD models. lol I got tired of the wheel hopping in the previous FWD cars I drove. That and I wanted to own a car with AWD as well. The only other model that had AWD at the time was the LXS, and I didn't like having the copious amounts of piano black plastic interior in the LX, LXS, and EX trims.

Other than coming with a non-optional panoramic sunroof and no cooled seats, my K5 pretty much has everything I wanted when researching to purchase a new car. Almost 4 years in and I still baby it like it was new. lol

I specifically picked awd gt line because I wanted torque and go not sit and spin/hop. If they made an awd gt I would have got it. Awd stingers are awesome

I went with the GT because I've been driving muscle cars with large (4.7-5.7L) N/A V8s most of my adult life and didn't want an underpowered economy car. I enjoy driving fast. The GT with 2.5L I4 Turbo & 8-speed DCT did not disappoint! It's faster than my old '98 Z28 A4, my '02 WS6 M6, and probably my '11 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible at legal speeds.

And as for ride comfort, this car is comfortable, spacious, and roomy enough for my family of 4. We are all 6 feet to 6'4" and my sons can still ride comfortably in the back. I like the modern tech, and love the piece of mind of a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

K5 GT/GT1 the extra power, comfort, tech, and no CVT are why I chose it. Was previously looking at Camry XSE with v6. But they had just quit making them and they were almost impossible to find new without driving to New Jersey. Love this car so far. It is so fun to drive, i look for excuses to get it out unless the weather is crap. LOL

💯. I too look for excuses to drive my '25 GT/GT1 especially with powertrain in Sports+, steering in Sport, and manually shifting every gear using aluminum alloy shift paddle extenders and surprising the crap out of certain cars 😛 I do like driving in the rain because, like MS, LH and FA, I'm the rainmeister 😜😁

The reason I purchased my 2024 K5 GT is because it became extreemely difficult to get in and out of my Corvette due to my sciatica (lower back and leg pain). It just was not worth the problem I was having and I just had to sell the Corvette and buy something else. To make it all the worse, I had installed Recaro seats in the Corvette that had very high seat bottom side bolsters that just made getting in and out even worse.

I purchased the Kia because it seemed to have a lot of bang for the buck vs a comparable Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. I looked at the Hyunda Sonata but really didn't like it's styling (especially the 'bottom feeder fish' nose of the car).

Here are a few photos of my sweetheart C6 Corvette GS, that I very much miss. I purchased this car new and put very few miles on it. I did spend a bunch of cash on race parts. It made 575 RWHP on the Dynojet (approx 670 HP at the crank) and 1/4 mile time was 11.15 @ 126 mph with drag radials ... The last photo shows those very high seat bolsters that added to the problem of getting in and out of the car.

2025 GT-Line AWD- Glacial white. Why? I’ve always had an SUV and was ready for a sedan, but HAD to have AWD to justify it where we live with some pretty long winters. Before I got mine and was researching AWD sedans, I happened to see a wolf grey K5 driving around my town. The look/style immediately caught my eye, and I became obsessed with K5’s. They were hard to find in our area. I happened to be at the right place at the right time and the dealer happened to have one in stock. I wasn’t going to go with a new model year, but the deal was too good to pass up, and to have 10yr/100,000 mile warranty, just had to. I LOVE my K5!

Well actually, I upgraded from a 2013 Optima, LX, It'd impressed me although it was the base model.
I'd chipped it and got 130 MPH out of her.

I chose the K5 GT Line over a Stinger, because I wanted performance and economy, the K5 Delivered, and I got 140 MPH out of the K5.

Personally, this engine (Like the Optima) seems to exhibit a higher amount of valve train/lifter/injector noise, than non KIA vehicles in it's class. I'm assuming it's normal, which is what was said about the Optima, in any event it has over 90,000 Miles to go under warranty and I will put Techron / Fuel System Cleaner before the next Oil Change and monitor it.

I also noticed a mild sideways hop in the front end when the pavement is uneven at speeds over 35 mph, I only ever experienced this with a Chevy Impala, front wheel drive, my Optima did not do it.

It's concerning, because I sometimes glide thru curves on the highway and definitely wouldn't want to go into a uncontrolled steering situation.
